on this type of kick lately,

ajello - dolphy (in flagranti rmx)

spooky but otherwise standard vonstroke rmx.

luke solo - ghouls (claude vonstroke)

his live show looks like an audio visual explosion of fun. this guy uses electronics and samplers but they sound so organic that it is hard to tell where one sound ends and another begins. his stand out productions rely on bright sparse well crafted arrangements. enjoy!

cornelius - music

so…. while drumcorps will definitely sound knew to some it is definitely a style with a long long strange heritage. easily claiming folks like ohgr, aphex twin, mouse on mars from recent memory. skinny puppy, controlled bleeding and ministry from the 2 decades ago. beyond that i’d say bathory, venom and death (the band).  beyond metal of course,  the drum machine / sampler makes the ever obvious relation to the sped up breaks, DnB and jungle from a real rave long ago.

while i enjoy this, it makes me think more about the first time i heard all of the things i mentioned above. i remember a friend once telling me about a rave he had been to which one room was doing the early nineties jungle/breaks thing (it was the early 90s) while the corresponding room featured a death metal band. at the time i thought that would be aural heaven. it still sounds good to me.

drumcorps - down

since his page is a bit difficult to find (so many marching bands), here is his official myspace page.

when the girls left. brought to you by Noisia

sorry for the title to sound all EMO and shit, but these guys and Bad Company killed drum and bass in the late 90’s

i don’t mean “killed” in a good way

i think this is the pivot point when girls got driven off the dance floor

if I had a time traveling De Loren…..

speaking of “time travel”……

watch Lost.

the Wire is gone, the Shield is gone, only watch good T.V.

no American Idol , please

-k-

a friend of mine mentioned that they haven’t seen this film. this isn’t electronic music (surf music) but the video is a good example of cutting up a movie for music video re purposing. in case you don’t know, the interesting character of the film is an malfunctioning android cowboy in a futuristic western theme park.

trying out anti spam stuff along with disabling trackbacks all together.

it is unlikely that it will snow anytime soon here in austin.

the cutler - gladius

old school throw back to 1999, 1989 and 1979. let me know if i missed a decade.

toby tobias - a close shave

colored-neon-glasses.gif

i like the playground sample in the middle of this tune. the bass is warm. more melodic idm inspired techno.

efdenim - bergwein

when a situation is bad, does it really help anyone if you just keep going on and on about how bad it is? everyone already understands.

evil nine is coming to austin, but not to a club that i have ever been. i can’t figure out the odd the location.

ugghh..it is on a friday. i like evil 9, it will be a dj gig. maybe i’ll wait till they come back to a venue/parking lot i like.

WARNING: from what i understand (1st hand accounts of friends) this club is truly awful. you may be turned away at the door if you look weird. don’t take my word for it.
