artist: unit 4 genre: electro dub
i forgot all about this track, this blog makes me study my own mp3 collection more than i normally would. i like this one. jack dangers fans might too. i like putting the word “electro” in front of everything lately. it is more all purpose than duct tape.
artist: matt flores genre: house
the gospel / soul choir sample in this is great. i see no tech house category, i suppose combining the techno + house tracks means just that. ahhh, see you guys at the beauty bar tomorrow night.
artist: ectomorph genre: minimal techno
wow, it is kinda exciting surfing through all the stuff i have on my old machine. i actually forgot about a lot of these tracks. i have another “old” machine that still needs to be mined too.
artist: dole and kom pres genre: electro house kinda?
off the excellent Digital Disco 2 comp. i really liked everything off this one. maybe i’ll mine this dead label for a couple posts.
artist: daft punk genre: 70s vinyl samples thru filters
always liked this one, proves how much you can do with a just a pad, drums and strong bassline.
no robot picture needed.
artist: kiln genre: idm groove

the weather finally turned cool and grey here. i suspect it will rebound to the an indian summer sometime before christmas. it is kinda nice to have a reason to stay inside. this track fits the drizzle outside my window.

artist: burial genre: trip hop grime idm

ok ok ok the hype around this is bit stupid, but still a good record is a good record. no need to discuss, good stuff. i’m surprised that everyone else seems to think so too. nickelback it ain’t. proof you don’t need all sorts of shit to make a good record, apparently he did this with a shitty kmart computer and an audio editor (read no protools or multitrack).
do people still read pitchfork? fuck i hope not.
don’t too get sick of people omitting vowels just yet
RCRD LBL is a great way to hear relatively new shit from good labels like kompakt and modular.
anyway, why can’t all record labels do this. i mean how hard is it? oh yeah, not hard.
artist: ? - dj mix genre: french touch dance shit
yeah, i just snagged this mini-mix off this site.
thanks to gomi for pointing this one out.
the first track would really get the roller rink bumpin.
click the link to see the site & hear the music, i refuse to review it, because i won’t do it justice.
Hip Hop can be forward looking, music palette wise.
Some will hate on the artist,
but on a technical note,
you have to love that Sidechaining
still no category for Grime…
hmmm…. the Man seems to be keeping us down
edIT - Artsy
artist: decomposed subsonic genre: super glitch house
don’t drink the kool aid. i want more traffic cameras at stop lights. think of the children. if getting on stage is the new Charleston then wtf is this:
goddamn it we need to import those east somalian pirate vessels to SanFran to pick up that sludge. maybe an honest days work would make them see the error of their warning shot across a cruise liners starboard bow ways. i’m serious people! arrrrr. also news flash: tasmania loaded chock full of nth generation convicts.
weekend! binge! drink! murder!
artist: u-ziq genre: idm
gotta post this old one, this entire album is listening in my mind like a 20hz ground loop.
enjoy.

artist: The Unspoken Heard genre: hiphop
i ran across this stuff by accident on emusic. i like the jazz based hip-hop.
this weekend i was asked by a fellow blogger if read music blogs. “nope, not really” i said. i prefer to browse a few of them every month but for the most part all my new music comes from (in this order): online radio, emusic.com and personal recommendations.
i can’t stand reading pitchfork or regular music mags, it kinda just depresses me. anyway i like music not READING about what someone thinks about music.
dancing about architecture.
since the lion’s share of my knowledge comes from others i feel like i should start recommending what i listen to all day when programming.
We Funk Radio is my favorite hip hop audio stream. disclaimer: i’m mostly white.
and here is the song i originally wanted to post.
I’m spending my day off making some acapellas.
If you have an idea, I’ll be glad to give it a go (all for in the name of new remixes and mashups)
Black.Label has some free acapellas

austin electro rockers remixed song is way different from the live version i saw at trophy’s this summer. don’t worry this works to their favor. who did this rmx? i like it. who? it is good. i’d like to meet more austin producers like this.
go em play, it is worth the 5 bucks just to hear the bass player (i could imagine them doing a DFA single or somethin).
goddamn my server is gettin hit hard by something….

Trent Reznor and his partner-in-crime, Saul Williams, are taking Radiohead’s In Rainbows concept and stepping it up to the next level.

artist: susumu yokota genre: idm, ambient, downtempo
seems like something a younger u-ziq would do. the album this is off the skintone collection. good stuff. its a departure from his hard disco house stuff. ok back to opeth.
My Radio - close myspace, it sucks the life out of me. no really.
