artist: waldeck genre: glitch house

this herbert mix shines
arist: nightmares on wax genre: hiphop triphop
i’m on the instrumental trip hop hip hop tip lately…
been in the (w)hole working on content.
there’s a Kusser mixtape floating around out there
stolen soundz, but the full release early 2008
in the meantime check this shit out!
on some Prince type shiz, but’s OK
(when did the Germans get so funky?)

Funkstörung and Designer Republic were ahead of their time….
artist: cobblestone jazz genre: minimal techno

they do improv live techno stuff too.
artist: carl finlow genre: electro-techno

man, that headhunter show on sept 8th does look really good. unfortunately it looks like sthil (me and co) will be doing a show eastside on that night, or i’d be there.
on no particular note enjoy some mr finlow:
thank goodness for our the fine structural engineers that worked on the relatively new ped bridge last night.
thanks for showing up everyone, especially the guy with the keg with no tap. it was fun. i haven’t seen that many people dancing to non-eighties and electronic music in austin in a while. it was a successful experiment. keep in mind i like eighties music, it is just that diversity is nice. personally i enjoy hearing stuff i don’t know.
if anyone has pics, send me something or just post. hi-res is fine, just post thumbnails.
if anyone i gave a flyer to last night is a DJ or artist or just an enthusiast and would like be an contributer or editor message me. this is a wordpress site so posting is easy. remember hip-hop is electronic music and i’d like to have a full time guy/gal on that.
john will most likely correct me but the dj line up last night was:
john gomi
daetron vargas
kangaroo sexy
someone else that i don’t know…tall dark hair.
and someone else?
and of course starting out early was cylon rock / sthil hybrid (the band that played) . now as some of you already know gomi, kangaroo sexy and i all perform in that outfit. whenever i do self promotion i’ll warn you, so i’m warning you.
last song we did before gomi started dj-ing for real last night. instrumental version, straight outta my bedroom :

yes, it appears i’ll need to add dub-step and grime category soon. i’m not an expert on that new scene yet. kusser help us out!
headhunter is performing at the parish. i’m listening to his myspace tracks now, that quanta track is badass. it has a dub microhouse feel, excluding the bass and drums.
the parish is one of the best sounding rooms in austin. the soundwoman knows how to mix and do electronic music as well as anything else. i’m glad this event is there.
here is the myspace event link
openers include: grommit, innerlign, tyrant, sloppy jackson

same hard shit as last time. the calender widget says 11:59 because i want it to read saturday (today). putting it at two would make it sunday. i had problems reading event postings in miami because of this.
it will start and go late.
we will do some live improv stuff with cylon rock on top of the usual djing.
artist: malcom kipe genre: instrumental trip hip hop

from texas too, his other project Nautilis is on planet mu.
artist: frankie knuckles genre: old school house

enough has been said to fill a couple volumes so
HEY JUST WANTED TO SAY THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO MADE IT OUT LAST SUNDAY TO THE ESO-LOUNGE IN FT. WORTH. WE HAD A GREAT TIME. THANKS TO LINDSEY, & NICKOLAS FOR BRING US OUT!!! & YO! TO JOSH THE PROMOHOMO FROM RUBBER GLOVES NICE TO MEET YA’ THANKS AGAIN-JG
artist: black devil disco club genre: suicide disco

critics bitch about, others like. some controversy over when it was made and who made it, i don’t really care. although it is great marketing.
Come check the mellow sounds of Dirk Diggla the instrumentalist!
WHO: Dirk Diggla and DJ Hora
WHAT: HAPPY HOUR SHOW 6-8PM
WHEN: TOMORROW! Tuesday the 14!
WHERE: Mohawk on Red River
COST: FREE FREE FREE
artist: riot society genre: dance electro punk
old track but yeah
While looking for a riot society image to put here instead I found this Radio SynKRoni3Ed. It is very eclectic (not just electronic stuff) but when a set list contains ellen alien, justice and the presets i am usually interested. Right now I’m hearing straight up funk. So for your dose of funk-dance-electro-clash-punk check out the their sets. Fun.

artist: lali puna genre: mellow idm pop?

it is sunday so i thought some sunday (i don’t have to run day) time music would be appropriate.
all their albums are worthy of a listen, they have great upbeat stuff too.
just spent time going through some music blogs. It reinforces my belief in the less = more blog style so:
artist: cannibal ox genre: lofi hiphop

super lofi, disconcerting loops and choruses like “scream phoenix” warrant a listen. on yeah being on definitive jux should help too.
In case you can’t see them live, this is the next best thing.

sucks
but
101x seems to be have a started a saturday night dance music centric show. i heard it last saturday and was surprised to NOT hear the red hot chili peppers. It seems to be have a lot of local guys doing sets. From the roster and based on what I heard it appears that the sets will focus on progressive house and techno but I could be wrong… ideally they will have a much broader scope than just that.
It is a great initiative, I found it completely accident. Unfortunately it intersects with Twine Time on KUT (yeah yeah I like other music). So channel flip away.
Saturdays from 10-midnight 101 FM austin tx.
http://www.krox.com/Hypersonic/
also kvrx, koop and kut are not commercial but listener supported. I highly recommend certain time slots, they change a lot.
also also, why is the tagline for the 101x website independent, local and alternative? Is it not owned by a huge media conglomerate that hands out playlists for most of their operating hours? Meaning that independent and local are the very least likely things they will play. Which explains why I keep hearing the goddamn Red Hot Chili Peppers over and over. Has something changed and I’m not away of it? All I know is that everytime I turn on KUT I hear Spoon (good) and everytime I go to 101x I hear emo crap.
i for one welcome our new robot overlords (over/underused i know)

it ain’t electronic music but it should be
well i guess I should post a song:
Nightmares on Wax - Kenny Dope / Get on down (with your robot master)
artist: laurent garnier genre: intelligent techno / acid
in reality he is all over the place. this is an older recording so modern mastering compression is not in use. so just please turn it up loud!

this is not the album cover this track is off of, i just like the Unreasonable Behavior cover a lot.
thought i’d also start passing on online radio stations i enjoy.
one that i keep coming back to is soma fm
the cool thing about some of the channels is that they are mostly instrumental, which is perfect to program to.
although not electronic be sure to check out the Boot Liquor station. i honestly never knew country was actually pretty ok.
